Women as Leaders

This program is unique in many ways including being led by women. It is Amber’s belief that more minority voices need to be in the seat of leadership. Women who collaborate and lift each other up are more powerful. With a smaller number of trainees you will receive personal connection and guidance. With the guidance of truly being heard your authentic voice will be developed and strengthened. One on one mentorship will allow you to ask questions that come up and practice teaching with real time feedback. In this longer training you will have time to learn in depth about yoga and developing your skills as a teacher. This program is not affiliated with a yoga studio or any governing yoga organizations that would receive a profit. We will thoroughly cover all the basic requirements of the nationally recognized certification program from teaching methodology to techniques, training and practice but more importantly we will set new standards in content and quality. Therefore, making a choice to not be affiliated to any certification program that gets to choose for all how it should be done. Let’s raise the bar together.

MEET YOUR TEACHERS

Amber CARE YTT headshot.jpg

I am looking forward to this journey with you.

A yoga teacher of almost 12 years, Amber has led 12 teacher trainings over the last 7 years. She feels passionate and committed to helping others become more sensitive, aware, and responsible yoga teachers. She feels equally drawn to help people see their personal gifts and beauty through doing the work of self inquiry, honesty and forgiveness. When we move through the hard stuff instead of bypassing or ignoring it we realize that many of our gifts are right there. We are also able to see more clearly what the right action is from our intuition.

I have gathered together some of the most brilliant women I know to lead this teacher training. It feels important in this time in history to raise the bar in every area including how yoga teacher trainings have been structured. This is why I am focusing this training on the feminine, identities, intersections, power dynamics, systemic conditioning, holistic health, and movement for longevity among many other things.

Anatomy

We'll learn the basics of anatomy and movement as it relates to yoga, while being mindful of the sustainability of our body and our practice. Since every body is special, we'll build our own awareness within, in hopes of building compassion in teaching others.

As a true believer in self-growth, I've have been dedicated to my yoga practice for almost 10 years. It has brought me closer to my truest and best version of myself, which will always continue to evolve, ebb + flow. My hope is to give back to the community and to share yogic paths with one another through compassion and positivity.

Activism

Yoga is a deeply personal practice, yet we all know it ripples outside of our individual selves.  You are powerful.  Your actions are powerful.  When we are faced with injustice, what we do or don't do has an effect.  What is the difference between action and reaction?  In this section, we will explore multiple layers of transformation from the personal to the community and into systems. We will explore power dynamics and how they shape relationships and organizational structures.  And we will learn to use mindfulness tools to cultivate collective leadership and community care.  How does mindfulness and connection to self translate into social change and creating a more just world?  At what point in our personal practice do we take the tools and skills into the world?

Psychologically -Sensitive Yoga

During this training session, we'll explore the basics of psychologically sensitive yoga, which include three principles: (1) Inclusive + Adaptable: Commitment to function over form + relentless pursuit to make yoga accessible to everyone who can breathe. (2) Psychological Theming: Educates teachers on the psychological and philosophical teachings in a way that makes them real, relevant + applicable. (3) Acknowledges the Reality of Mental Health: Commitment to educating teachers on how to teach in a trauma-sensitive, empowering manner that creates psychological safety. Acknowledges the scope of practice of yoga teachers as a way of incorporating yoga into a holistic wellness plan. How can we weave these threads together to create a sensitive, relevant class? How can we blend the teachings of yoga with current, evidenced-based psychological principles to create mindful experience for students? How does trauma show up in the yoga classroom and what are some practical strategies we can use to make our classes more useful to survivors?
