A teacher for life
I'm The Therapeutic Poet. With 17 years of teaching, a Poetry degree from Columbia College, and certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant, I guide students through yoga that heals both body and soul. My classes weave together anatomical precision, therapeutic wisdom, and the transformative power of poetic language, creating an experience where ancient philosophy meets modern science through the art of beautiful, healing movement.
I am heavily influenced by Krishnamacharya lineage having completed many trainings at Moksha Yoga Center in Chicago. I am also influenced by the Gabriel Halpbern of the Iyengar tradition, Smart Yoga (Annie Carpenter), Jason Crandell’s postural yoga, and Para Yoga which is in the Himalayan tradition.
I have a unique approach that weaves together the anatomical precision of physical therapy, the linguistic beauty of poetry, the ancient wisdom of yoga philosophy, the practical application of props and alignment, and the transformative power of conscious breathing.
I bridge worlds that too often remain separate. I believe healing should be both effective AND beautiful. I believe yoga instruction can be both therapeutically sound AND spiritually inspiring. I believe that when we combine medical knowledge with poetic wisdom, we create something more powerful than either could be alone.
